Locked out

In a locked up locked down world
With the locked in thoughts of an overclocked life
There's a freedom found from a present of potential,
A key from an unlocked mind.

You fear tomorrow, but yesterday is as dangerous,
    so the saints say
Each moment is our choice of how
    to respond
Not in competition,
    with locked up emotion
But keen thought
    and deliberate choice
In others' shoes and understanding empathy
In the world, but not of the world.
